GRADE 1

Homework Folders

Homework folders are handed in on a Friday and collected from the same place in the classroom on Mondays. I remind the students to collect their folders but it is their responsibility to place their folder in their bags.

Reader Folders

As you read this, I am hoping that all students have received their new reader folder. These are handed in on Wednesday morning and ready for collection from the same place in the afternoon. These folders need to be sent to school everyday so that your child can use them when they are reading with their buddies on 3 mornings a week, in their Literacy groups on 2 mornings a week and other times when reading is heard in the classroom.

Communication Folders

This term, I have created a communication folder for the ease of communicating between the classroom and yourselves at home. If you have something you need to ask me, write a note in here. I also recommend you remind your child about your note so they can give it to me and I am able to answer your concerns as soon as possible. I will also use this for school notes so I ask that you check these folders regularly.

School Uniform

Please refer to the school uniform policy. All students are expected to wear the correct uniform to school daily. Mondays and Thursdays, all students are to wear sports uniform (electric blue shirt, dark blue tracksuit pants, with an electric blue insert and hoody).Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays are school uniform days, (boys- blue shirt, grey pants and black shoes; girls- pink shirt, grey pants and black shoes).

Music:

Grade 1s are enjoying music at the moment as they are learning about different drums.

In the classroom, students are developing their number understandings through counting to 100 by 1’s, 2’s, 5’s and 10’s. We have also been exploring addition and subtraction of numbers up to 20.

Literacy

Grade 1’s are improving in their reading groups as they develop their learning skills through reading activities. During this time, students are participating in skill-based games, reading tasks, sound and word activities.

Integrated Studies

Students have been learning about constructed, natural and managed environments.
